Skye Wasko

Hi, I'm Skye (or SkyeHighPhoenix here on the internet). I'm a Game Designer and second year uni student studying at the University of Portsmouth.

Having first come into contact with games by playing the original "Angry Birds" on my dad's iPod back in the early 2010s, I've since grown a love for games on both sides of the screen as an avid gamer and creator. Admittedly, the latter of those is a newer intrest withit only picking up around the time of the COVID pandemic - but it has rapidly grown into the greater passion.

 

Having taken a gap year from academia after completing my A-levels - primarily to complete my conscription with the Finnish Defence Forces (being a dual national) - I started my uni studies is September 2024. It was during this gap year that I made the decision to change the focus of my pursuit away from being more coding oriented to get more hands on with design work - a decision that I haven't regretted since.

Over the last two years, I've learnt to replace the design bibles that I was previously writing with more approachable and consice documentation that more precisely communicated data and information to my teams; to be far more comfortable in engines, constructing and building the levels and worlds for my games; as well as expanding my repetoir of coding languages to prototype in. And considering that's the pregress in just two years, I'm looking forward to the advancements I make on the journey ahead!
